Miss Stillwater and Jr Miss Stillwater Contestants:

Thank You for your interest in the Miss Stillwater / Jr. Miss Stillwater contest. As a contestant for the title of Miss Stillwater, Jr. Miss Stillwater each contestant will represent the Stillwater Pow Wow, their family, tribe(s) and community. The winners will reign for the ensuing year until new contestants are chosen and crowned at the Pow Wow the following year. This is a very special honor and each contestant chosen will represent the Stillwater Pow Wow, and the sponsoring organization. 

Contestants should be a fine example of young Indian womanhood, respectful, with good character and an upstanding member in the community. As a representative and ambassador of the Stillwater Pow Wow it is very important for contestants to maintain certain moral standards for themselves, now and in the future. It is mandatory that contestants conduct themselves above and beyond reproach. This includes, but not limited to being drug and alcohol free. You are encouraged to participate in other Pow Wows representing Stillwater Pow Wow for one year.

We would like to encourage all young ladies 12-21 that are outgoing and ambious to participate. This is a great opportunity to get involved and represent a well respected Pow Wow and organization. Because this contest is determined on raffle ticket sales, it is important to be well spoken and ambitious. The outcome of the title Miss Stillwater and Jr Miss Stillwater is up to you the contestant.

Winners chosen will be based on raffle ticket sales. As an incentive to all contestants who participate in the Miss Stillwater/ Jr Miss Stillwater contest, we will be offering each contestant 10% of the raffle tickets sales you generate. So the more you sell the more you get back. Because the Stillwater Pow Wow Committee understands the work you will be putting in promoting the Stillwater Pow Wow, we want to honor your commitment and hard work.

My name is Genevieve Markussen and I will be in charge of the Miss Stillwater and Jr Miss Stillwater Princess Contest. I am a former Miss Stillwater 2000 and 2002, as well as Second Runner up in the Miss Indian World Pageant at the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow.
